Remove GPS and EXIF data from a photo

See the camera and location metadata in a photo, then download a copy without it.

Open View and strip EXIF

Photos from a phone often include GPS coordinates, the camera model, and the time they were taken. Posting that file can show where you were.

The EXIF tool reads that metadata in the browser so you can see it first. Downloading a JPEG or WebP rebuilds the image on a canvas, and the new file does not carry the old metadata.

This does not blur faces or hide a landmark that is visible in the picture. It only removes the hidden data attached to the file.

Steps

  1. Open the EXIF tool and drop the photo.
  2. Read the GPS and camera rows.
  3. Download the re-encoded image if you want that data gone.

Questions

Does this edit the original file on my phone?

No. You download a new file. The original stays where it was.
