Count words for an essay or application

Application forms and school assignments often have a word cap. A counter that sends your essay to a website is a bad place to paste a personal statement.

The word counter updates as you type. Spellcheck and a text diff sit next to it if you are comparing two drafts. None of that text is saved on a server.

Word counts can differ slightly between tools because they split hyphenated words and numbers differently. If a form is strict, check its own counter before you submit.

Steps

  1. Open the word counter.
  2. Paste the draft.
  3. Trim until the count matches the limit.
