WASM background removal runs in this browser. The first pass may take a minute while the model loads.
How to remove a background
- Drop a JPEG, PNG, or WebP photo.
- Wait while the on-device model loads (first time only) and cuts out the subject.
- Download a transparent PNG. Your photo is not uploaded to UtilityAll.
Frequently asked questions
Does the photo leave my computer?
The pixels stay in the browser. On first use, a segmentation model and WASM files download from IMG.LY’s CDN into your cache.
Why is the first run slow?
The model is tens of megabytes. After the browser caches it, later images on this device are faster.
Does it work on HEIC?
Use JPEG, PNG, or WebP here. Convert HEIC with the image tool first, then remove the background.
Is the cutout perfect?
It is a local AI cutout, not a studio mask. Hair and glass can need a manual tidy in another editor.
